The Institute of Sociology, Russian Academy of Sciences is one of the leading research organisations in social sciences in Russia. Some research projects SI-RAS have conducted include ‘Social differentiation of the population of the big city: tendencies and indicators’, ‘Social-cultural changes and transformations’, ‘Social-spatial differentiation of St. Petersburg’.
Igor Travin, Deputy Director, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor has an extensive experience in research in the field of sociology of urban way of life. He was involved in a number of international projects, among which are ‘Structural Changes and Strategies of Survival. Adaptation to the Market Relations in Russia’, a joint project with Institute for Social Politics of University of Helsinki, 1993-1996).
